What I Got Wrong About the Stark Future Hoodie and Cap

Hear it from a Sisters Moto rider with a drawer full of team hoodies. Five things I assumed before buying, and what turned out to be true.

I have a drawer full of moto hoodies and a shelf of race caps. This is a thing I collect.

Which means I walked into this one with a stack of opinions already formed.

Five of them turned out to be wrong. Here's what's actually true.

THE 30 SECOND VERSION

  • Heavyweight organic cotton pullover, true to size in a relaxed unisex cut.
  • Size up only if you're layering it over riding gear.
  • Branding is restrained, so it works well beyond the paddock.
  • The cap is plastic free, with a cellulose peak and a metal buckle.
  • Genuine factory apparel, not a print on demand copy.
In this story
  1. It's not the same blank as everything else
  2. No need to size up like always
  3. Heavyweight doesn't mean stiff
  4. A cap isn't just a cap
  5. It held its shape through every wash
  6. What I loved, plus a few easy tweaks
  7. The one I was most wrong about

It's not the same blank as everything else

Most brand hoodies are a catalogue blank with a logo pressed on the front. I own several.

I assumed this was the same deal at a higher price, and I was wrong.

This is genuine factory apparel through an authorized dealer, not a print on demand copy, and you can tell before you ever wash it.

The cotton has real weight to it, and the branding is applied properly rather than sitting on top like a sticker.

The other surprise was restraint. No chest-wide graphic, no sponsor wall across the back.

Small logo, no sponsor wall. Stark keeps the branding quiet.

That's rare in this category, and it's the reason this one gets worn well past the paddock.

Is Stark Future apparel genuine or print on demand?

Sisters Moto is an authorized Stark Future dealer, so this is genuine factory apparel rather than a print on demand copy. You notice it in the weight of the cotton and the way the branding is applied.

No need to size up like always

Half my collection runs small. Euro sizing, race fit, take your pick of the reasons.

So I reached for the next size up out of pure habit and didn't need it.

It's a regular, relaxed unisex cut, and my normal size over a t-shirt was right.

It runs XS to 2XL, so there's room either side if you want it closer or looser.

The one real reason to go up is layering. Over riding gear, take the next size.

Does the Stark Future hoodie run true to size?

Yes. It's a regular, relaxed unisex cut in XS to 2XL and it fits true to size over a t-shirt. The only reason to size up is if you plan to layer it over riding gear.

Heavyweight doesn't mean stiff

I've bought enough heavyweight cotton to expect cardboard that needs breaking in.

It's soft from the first wear and has only got softer since.

The pullover cut caught me out too. Almost everything I own is a zip, and I assumed I'd miss it.

No zip means no cold line down the middle, and standing at the truck on a cold morning, that's the whole difference.

The hood holds its shape instead of collapsing flat against your neck, which matters more than it sounds.

The trade is real though. It's a warm hoodie, so in proper heat it stays in the truck and the cap does the work.

Great for

  • Cold mornings at the truck
  • No cold zip line down the middle
  • A hood that holds its shape

Skip it in proper heat

  • It stays in the truck
  • The cap does the work

Is the Stark Future hoodie warm enough for cold mornings?

It is. The heavyweight organic cotton and the pullover cut mean there's no zip line letting cold through the middle. On its own it handles a chilly morning, and it layers under a jacket when it gets colder.

A cap isn't just a cap

I have a shelf of snapbacks. My working theory was that the price here was brand tax.

Then I looked at what it's actually built from, and it's not like the rest of the shelf.

The peak is compressed cellulose board made from wood fibers, and it's naturally antibacterial.

It doesn't crease into a permanent fold the way a plastic peak does after you sit on it once.

The peak keeps its curve. STARK FUTURE runs along the band.

The front panel uses a renewable jute alternative instead of the usual plastic laminated panel.

The fabric is cotton and lyocell, so it breathes, and the closure is a metal buckle rather than plastic snaps.

The whole build is plastic free, which is a fitting detail from a company whose bike doesn't burn anything either.

It comes in SM and L/XL, and the buckle handles the fine tuning from there.

What is the Stark Future jute cap made of?

It's built plastic free. The peak is compressed cellulose board made from wood fibers, which is naturally antibacterial. The front panel uses a renewable jute alternative in place of a plastic laminated panel, and the fabric is cotton and lyocell with a metal buckle closure.

It held its shape through every wash

The wash is where cheap merch gives itself up. Necks stretch, prints crack, cuffs go slack.

I expected this one to follow the pattern, and it hasn't.

Cold wash, low heat, mostly hung to dry, and it has held its shape through all of it.

The cuffs are still snug and the neck hasn't stretched out.

The black has lost a little depth, which is what black cotton does. It reads as worn in rather than worn out.

Black does show dust, which is worth knowing around dirt bikes. A shake at the truck handles most of it.

The cap has had the same treatment and the peak still holds its curve, which was the part I expected to give up first.

How do you wash a heavyweight cotton hoodie without wrecking it?

Cold wash and low heat is the safe route with any heavyweight cotton. Mine has kept its shape and the cuffs are still snug. Black cotton loses a little depth over time, which is normal.

What I loved, plus a few easy tweaks

What I loved

  • Heavyweight cotton that's soft without going shapeless
  • Pullover cut with no cold zip line
  • Cap peak that won't crease like plastic
  • Restrained branding that works off the bike
  • Genuine factory apparel through a real dealer

Easy tweaks

  • Layering over riding gear. It fits true to size, so go one up if it's going over armor.
  • Too warm in real heat. Heavyweight cotton does that. The cap covers the hot days.
  • Black shows dust. True of any black apparel near dirt bikes. A shake sorts it.
  • Two cap sizes. Pick by head size and let the metal buckle fine tune it.

Good to know

  • Hoodie is a pullover in heavyweight organic cotton, XS to 2XL
  • Relaxed unisex cut, so it suits most builds
  • Cap is plastic free: cellulose peak, jute alternative panel, cotton and lyocell
  • Metal buckle closure, stocked in SM and L/XL

The one I was most wrong about

I collect this stuff, so I assumed this would join the pile and get worn twice a year.

Instead it's the one off the top of the drawer, and the cap has outlasted every plastic one on the shelf.

They hang on the same hook by the back door, and most days I don't think about either of them.

The cap, worn the way it gets worn most days.

That's the highest praise I have for clothing. It asks nothing of me.

So, would I buy them again? Both, and I'd skip a few of the ones already in the drawer to do it.

Is Stark Future apparel worth buying?

If you ride a VARG or you just like what Stark builds, yes. The hoodie is heavyweight organic cotton in a cut you can wear anywhere, the cap is built plastic free, and both come with genuine factory quality through an authorized dealer.
